The lindy ladder

Introduction

About

The Lindy Ladder is a way for Lindy Hoppers to measure how far they have come with dancing, and how far they can still go.

Our hope is to both inspire dancers as they progress through the ladder, encouraging them to set goals for where they want to go with dancing, but also to open dancers’ minds to how much left there is to learn.

Why?

Similar to Martial Arts, we desired a standardized ‘Level’ approach for Lindy Hop, with the knowledge that this Ladder will change a great deal over time, as all street dances change over time. The highest level encourages an athlete to look at their field, and see how they can contribute to it.

Though we are far from the top, we hope to begin making some huge contributions now. We are invested in this community. We want it to succeed. We want it to improve.

Planned Updates

Anything that requires a “list,” such as Vocabulary lists, will be linked up shortly to our documents and video demos.

Wiki-It!

This is a brand new project.

We welcome feedback, ideas, additions, subtractions, or disagreements, however, be kind. We accept that this is a brand new project and there’s still a lot we want to do with it.

We wanted the idea out there, and want it to grow, just like our favorite dance.

Basic techniques we may choose to not modify. While there are many schools of thought for Lindy Hop out there, ours comes with 15 years of Lindy Hop experience learning from the best, teaching, dancing, coaching, and performing. We’ve taught with many methods. We like this one the best. We believe strongly in our curriculum, the order we teach it in, and what we teach to our beginners. They learn fast, they come out dancing, and they improve from there rapidly.
